A succulent, juicy red, with huckleberry, plump blackberry and blueberry preserves that show hints of salted dark chocolate, dried violet and cardamom. Beyond the generous fruit flavors is a structure of polished tannins, with hints of palo santo, dried herbs and tobacco, adding depth and intrigue on the finish. Drink now through 2046

The 2019 Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz blends fruit from Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale, matures in American oak (54% new, the balance second use) and delivers the kind of pleasure overload Mollydooker fans are accustomed to. Waves of chocolate, blackberry, plum and vanilla emerge from the glass, while the full-bodied palate is supple, generous and velvety in feel, and the lengthy finish adds hints of licorice. If there's any criticism, it's that the wine is rather formless and does show a bit of alcoholic warmth (it's labeled at 16% alcohol), so its ability to evolve in a positive direction is probably limited.
