The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino lifts up to show dusty dark florals, red currants, crushed ashen stone and a contrasting hint of blood orange. There's a soft, fleshy feel to the textures within, nicely balanced by salty minerals and savory spice, as a velvety mix of red and black fruits washes across the senses. It leaves the palate dry through the long and structured finale, where gruff tannins come together with the slightest hint of alcoholic warmth. That said, this is a fully enjoyable Brunello from the 2017 vintage.
