Loimer's 2015 Zöbing Heiligenstein 1ÖTW is, on the nose, the purest and finest but also the most discreetest of his single vineyard Riesling trio. Golden-yellow in color, the wine opens with a bright, relaxed and flinty-mineral bouquet of perfectly ripe and concentrated stone fruit aromas intermixed with milled stones and some herbal scents. A great character already on the nose! Full-bodied and dense (almost rich) but pure, highly elegant and finessed on the palate, this is dry and tense Riesling full of mineral purity, finesse and balance. The finish is long, complex and salty, entirely based on terroir rather than variety expression.

Pleasantly bitter hints of orange peel mingle with notes of ripe pear on the nose. The juicy palate adds tart orange and zesty grapefruit to this incisive, aromatic and very moreish mix. The palate is precise and lip-smacking, fresh and concentrated. The full refreshing impact becomes clear on the long finish.
