The 2018 Viognier Reserve is unoaked, dry and comes in at 13% alcohol. In a tough year and for an inexpensive wine, this shows well-deceptively well at first. Showing reasonable concentration, it seems to fill the mouth on first pour. It tastes great and shows off a classic flavor profile. It's reasonably fresh, but the flavors and smooth texture will be the biggest selling points here. There isn't a lot of energy. As nice as this is, the structure may be the issue here in the long run. It did flatten with aeration. If it can demonstrate some ability to hold and improve, it might prove me wrong. Barboursville does have a way of making wines that hold, of course. I'd still suggest this should be drunk very young. There were 1,168 cases produced.
