(all tempranillo; aged for a year and a half in new French oak): Inky purple. Intense, highly perfumed aromas of black raspberry, potpourri and spicecake, with suave vanilla and cola qualities coming up with aeration. Shows outstanding power and clarity on the palate, offering sweet blueberry and cherry liqueur flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Finishes extremely long and smoky, with supple tannins sneaking in late.

Within its riper and showier personality, the 2012 La Viña de Andres Romeo is the cuvée produced with the grapes from the vineyard that Romeo's father Andrés planted 40 years ago with Tempranillo. The wine fermented in a single 10,000-liter oak vat with natural yeast and went through malolactic in barrel, followed by 19 months in brand new French oak barrels. You can see the quality of the fruit here that is able to stand up to the oak and the aromas are primarily from the grapes, with perfumed notes of flowers and a juicy palate with very fine tannins, in a Burgundian way. 4,000 bottles produced.
