The 2016 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru is reduced on the nose, although it should blow off with time to reveal the blackberry, raspberry and marine scents underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, saturated tannins and well judged acidity. Whilst it does not quite deliver the complexity I would have liked, it has a velvety sheen and a caressing finish. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

The 2016 Corton Les Renardes Grand Cru includes more than 40% whole cluster and underwent no pigeage. It has a fragrant, floral bouquet that strangely has elements of a fine Beaujolais (not meant in a pejorative sense.) The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite correct and linear, earthy on the finish with the whole cluster defining the finish that just needs more to lodge itself in your memory. I find the Clos du Roi has more to offer at this stage.
