The 2017 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is precise and detailed on the nose, displaying very good intensity and a slightly darker fruit profile than Castaignier's Clos de la Roche. It seems to lose a bit of definition in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine definition and salinity, although the finish does not quite have the breeding or the volume of the aforementioned. Notions of cassis, plums and sweet new oak introduce the 2017 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, layered wine with a fleshy core of fruit framed by chewy tannin. It's a creditable effort from Bichot in this vintage.
