From slatey soils, the 2018 Burg Layen Riesling offers a clear and crystalline, pretty stony and herbal-scented bouquet with piquant aromas. On the palate, this is a crunchy and salty, piquant and mineral dry Riesling with a long and tensioned, lingering salty finish. Very promising. Tasted as a sample in July 2019.

Scents and juicy abundance of apple and pineapple serve for brightness and tang that were missing in this year's "Nahesteiner" Cuvée. A hint of anise adds appeal. Subtle apple seed and pineapple core piquancy serve for animation while tempering the effusive fruitiness of a refreshingly lingering finish. Although there is around 13% alcohol, it doesn't at all weigh down the wine.

A mix of white flowers, peach, brown spice and pine flavors highlight this dry white. Finishes on the austere side, with a chalky feel. Drink now through 2025. 150 cases imported.
