Bright, supple and expressive, this red exudes strawberry, cherry, wild rosemary and thyme aromas and flavors. Pure and graceful, yet with plenty of chalky tannins for support. All the components are in the right proportion, with a beam of cherry on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2025 through 2043. 1,000 cases made, 300 cases imported.

Delicate scents recalling pressed rose, hay, eucalyptus and forest floor mingle with whiffs of spice. The full-bodied palate offers dried cherry, aniseed and ground clove alongside taut, fine-grained tannins that leave a drying close

The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is highly aromatic with perfume of spiced plum, dried roses, and anise. The palate is tightly wound, with notes of tart cherry, dried tobacco, and baked earth. Taught and austere in its youth, this is a wine to cellar to allow it develop into its full potential, though it is certainly compelling now. Drink 2024-2042.

The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is another terriffc wine from 2017 Barolo Cannubi. Expressive and translucent in the glass, the 2017 is wonderfully expressive from the moment it is first poured. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, spice, chalk and white pepper lend striking aromatic presence. Deceptively medium in body, the 2017 has plenty of grip. It is one of the finest wines I have tasted from Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno.

Savory and spicy, the Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno 2017 Barolo Cannubi offers a rather unique interpretation of this celebrated cru site. The heat and drought suffered in the growing season have certainly helped to concentrate the wine's dark fruit aromas and darken the garnet hues that reflect from the glass. Blackberry preserves and plum segue to rain, tar and cured tobacco. The wine remains open-knit even at this young age. Production is 12,000 bottles.
