(a 60/40 blend of malbec and cabernet, from vines planted in 1935): Good full red-ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, earth and mint are sexed up by new French oak notes of coffee, mocha and cedar. The palate offers a sophisticated combination of rich, lush texture and restrained sweetness, with the raspberry, currant and licorice flavors lifted by enticing mineral/floral perfume. This gripping, vibrant, classy wine finishes with smooth tannins that dust the entire mouth.

The 2009 Poesia is reticent on the nose at the moment, with broody fruit that seems more red than black. There is a lovely purity here, as scents of raspberry and wild strawberry tinged with singed leather begin to emerge. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and lovely, ripe, succulent red berry fruit as well as a lovely creamy, coconut-tinged, oaky note that will need two or three years to be subsumed. Excellent. Drink 2014-2020+.
